I just went through a divorce that cost me a lot of money because of custody issues - I was seeking sole custody of my 8 year old son. Purchased the home in July 2007 and planned to refi about 5 months after that but market went in the can. My home cost me 260k and I put 20k down. Although I am starting to get things back on track, I have a hole to dig out of and have asked GMAC to just help me out for three months until I can get back on track. I did not have a 30 day late the first year of my loan and if I would not have lost my job, I never would have. I asked GMAC just to lower my payments for 3 months.
